Location Details

Amble, a bustling seaport at the mouth of the River Coquet, is a great base for exploring Northumberland. Amble has a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches, and coastal walks to Hauxley Bird Sanctuary and Druridge Bay Country Park. Large fishing boats land fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters along the harbour wall. Coquet Island, a mile south of Amble, is an RSPB reserve home to a large population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks. The charming coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster, with their castles and award-winning gardens, along with the National Trust's Wallington Hall all rest within easy reach.
