The expansive community of Penrhyndeudraeth is home to a number of stores, eateries, a post office, and a train station that connects to the Ffestiniog Railway. The renowned, distinctive Italianate village of Portmeirion, which served as the setting for the television series The Prisoner, is only two miles away. It is encircled by sand beaches and alluring woodlands. A little farther on lies the harbour town of Porthmadog, from which you can take the Ffestiniog Railway to the slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, also known as "the town that roofed the world."
