Location Details
Leintwardine, a Roman settlement noted in the Domesday Book, is located in scenic Herefordshire, not far from the border with Shropshire. The region is perfect for hiking, and the nearby parlour pub, which is registered as a Grade II building, offers a wide variety of real ales. The Herefordshire Trail passes through the centre of town, and the adjacent Shropshire Way is another great option for a hike. Located in the Shropshire Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the little village of Bucknell is home to a tavern, butcher, and basic shop, and is ideal for those looking to escape to the countryside. Located on the banks of the Teme River in the heart of the beautiful Welsh Marches is the ancient and mediaeval market town of Ludlow. Regular street markets, held in the shadow of the castle, showcase a variety of goods, from cheeses and fresh fruit to books and local crafts. The mediaeval street pattern of Ludlow, with its more than 500 listed buildings, remains nearly intact and provides a fascinating backdrop for these events. In addition to its Michelin-starred restaurant and various tea shops, taverns, and inns, Ludlow is well-known for its shopping. A huge public riverside green and the famed Green Cafe may be found on the Millennium Green, which is located below the 900-year-old Ludlow Castle. In addition to the Medieval Christmas Festival and the Shakespeare and Arts festivals, Ludlow has a number of food and drink events in the spring and fall. Visit the nearby Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, the Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall, and Cardingmill Valley for a fun-filled day trip. A fantastic holiday destination in a stunning region.
Herefordshire offers visitors the chance to journey through lush green countryside, enjoying splendid black-and-white timbered villages, a magnificent cathedral city, a fairytale Georgian castle at Eastnor or books galore in famous Hay-on-Wye.
