Salcombe, once a major port, is now a popular vacation spot for walkers and families seeking a seaside getaway. North Sands and South Sands are two lovely beaches not far away, and further on you can visit the National Trust-owned Overbeck's and stroll through its subtropical gardens. Why not have a more exciting day and participate in one of the many water activities that can be found on the estuary? While in Salcombe, you should eat at one of the many restaurants, pubs, cafes, or delicatessens serving seafood caught in the area. The southernmost part of Devon is home to some of the county's most beautiful beaches, quaint little towns with thatched roofs, and excellent hiking opportunities along the South West Coast Path.
