This attractive, stone-built, detached cottage is conveniently situated in a rural setting, on the outskirts of Llangynog village. The village rests at the foot of the Milltir Cerrig mountain pass, in the heart of the Berwyn Mountains in Powys. Charming and full of character, this cosy cottage welcomes you in through an open porch, which leads into the well-styled sitting room with comfy sofas and a woodburning stove set in a red brick inglenook hearth. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, with a social dining area, and it also retains the original range with a feature oven and a further woodburning stove to provide character and warmth. Upstairs are two lovely double bedrooms with superb views across the valley, both offering some en-suite facilities in addition to the family bathroom, which has a bath and shower over. There is also door access off the landing into the rear garden. The property, a former lead miner’s cottage thought to date back to the 1820s, has been carefully modernised to retain original features where possible, whilst providing a modern country cottage feel throughout. Outside, the well-kept gardens to front and rear offer superb views down the Tanat Valley, and sunny seating areas to sit and relax, planning the activities for the coming days. The cottage is in a fantastic location for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and climbers, and a walk to Rhaeadr Waterfall should not be shirked, as it is the highest single drop waterfall in the UK. For a calmer walk, but equally as stunning, a trail leads from the cottage in the other direction to St Melangell’s Church, one of the remotest churches in Britain.
