The single-storey accommodation boasts a warm and inviting generous sized open-plan living area with plush seating, a well-equipped contemporary fitted kitchen with built-in appliances, ideal for preparing tasty meals, and a formal dining area which provides a sociable space for entertaining. The high vaulted ceiling and tall picture windows create a unique sense of space yet the cottage still retains its snug ambience. A double bedroom leads off from the sitting room and is complemented by quality bedding and furniture, benefiting from a bright en-suite shower room. The village is home to the remains of a 12th Century Cistercian Priory - a stone pillar, staircase and sundial are all that remain, which gave the town its unusual name. The village is now largely made up of stone-built cottages clustered around the village green. Packed with local amenities such as shops, tearooms, an art gallery, a glass studio and three old country pubs, there is plenty to do without venturing to nearby Hutton-le-Hole, Ryedale and Kirkbymoorside.
