A five minute walk brings you to the centre of this very pretty village, with a stream meandering down the main street. The children will love the traditional play area with its scooter park and Astroturf ball court. Enjoy a gentle stroll around, with its array of interesting shops, tempting tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. Walkers will delight in the many footpaths leading from the village, while a must for cyclists is nearby Dalby Forest, with numerous biking trails and adventure centre. Two miles away is the bustling market town of Pickering, with its castle, museums and the terminus of the renowned North York Moors Steam Railway, which winds its way through the heather-clad moors to Grosmont, a wonderful day out for both young and old. The Forestry Commission woodland at Dalby is worth a visit and has several excellent nature trails to be enjoyed whilst slightly further away is the historic cathedral city of York with its huge range of shops, cinemas and museums.
