For those interested in local history, take trip to the ruins of Furness Abbey and the Dock Museum at nearby Barrow in Furness, 15 miles away. Take a cruise on Coniston Water, 12 miles away or hire rowing boats, sailing dinghies, canoes or kayaks from Coniston Pier.
