There is a train station which has a regular service into Glasgow and Edinburgh, where you can enjoy a day exploring the art galleries and museums. From May to September, take the plunge and enjoy a swim in the open air pool at Askham (9 miles). There are centres in the area for equestrians to enjoy a hack or why not bike through the network of quiet country roads and explore the unspoilt local area? Head to the Lakes (7 miles away), paddleboard on Ullswater or take a trip on a steamer and visit Aira Force waterfall. Enter this quaint cottage, which is full of character and charm, and discover a cosy lounge where there is a wood burner (first basket of logs provided), a Smart TV, and comfy seating to kick back and relax. There are lots of original features throughout the cottage, including beams, stone walls and stable doors, and lots of detail has been considered to help you feel at home. Off the lounge, you will find the bespoke country kitchen which offers a great social space to chat over a glass of wine and prepare dinner. The large island features a breakfast bar, and the kitchen is well equipped with an electric range style oven and hob, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Head back through to the lounge and up the open staircase to the first floor where you will find two stylish double bedrooms. There is a family bathroom that has a traditional freestanding roll top bath with a handheld shower and WC. To the side of the property, there is a small, enclosed garden that has a patio area and bench to sit out on a nice evening or to enjoy an early morning coffee. There is parking for one car at the front of the property on the drive and lots of unrestricted parking in the village (subject to availability)..
