Chipping is situated in the Forest of Bowland which was designated as an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty in 1964 and is a very popular walking destination. One of the best known features of the area is Pendle Hill, which lies in Pendle Forest. The Trough of Bowland is a pass connecting the valley of the Marshaw Wyre with that of Langden Brook, and dividing the upland core of Bowland into two main blocks. Set in the heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley, a rural refuge with spectacular scenery, there are an abundance of picturesque walks and cycle trails nearby. The popular market town of Clitheroe is 9 miles away where you can visit the ancient castle or indulge in a spot of retail therapy. For a family day out, the Bowland Wild Boar Park is around 3 miles away and great for families with lots of animals and activities for the children, with a woodland, cafe and river walk for a gentler pace for everyone to explore. For those wanting to venture slightly further afield, the breathtaking landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District National Park, and the market town of Skipton with the ancient Skipton Castle, can all be reached within 25 miles.
