The Thatch provides comfortable, quality accommodation for couples and families in a wonderful location. One of three holiday properties on this site, located in the grounds of a 17th century former manor house at Monkton Wyld, just north of the A35 on the Dorset/Devon border. The pretty West Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis is about 3.5 miles to the south and the attractive East Devon market town of Axminster, home to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's popular River Cottage shop and restaurant, is about 4.5 miles to the west. This property is ideally suited to those seeking a countryside location close to the sea, or for walkers who will be drawn to this wonderful location by the wealth of walking countryside right on the doorstep. Visitors wanting to explore the local area will find themselves well placed to easily access the many attractions of East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset.

This single floor thatched cottage comprises an open plan sitting room with a cosy log burner, a well equipped fitted kitchen and open dining area. A small conservatory/sunroom extends the living accommodation to provide the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a morning cup of tea in the sunshine. With the two bedrooms also on the ground floor, this cottage is additionally well suited to those with limited mobility or those holidaying with very young children. There is a small seating area with furniture outside the cottage. Guests also have access to six acres of grounds, including wild meadows and a small lake (coarse fishing allowed) and are free to wander and enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is encouraged by the welcoming owner.
