The Barn is an attractive, two storey property providing spacious and comfortable holiday accommodation in a beautiful location. One of three holiday properties in this location, The Barn is set in the grounds of a 17th century former manor house at Monkton Wyld, just north of the A35 on the Dorset/Devon border. The pretty West Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis is about five minutes drive to the south and the attractive East Devon market town of Axminster, home to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's popular River Cottage shop and restaurant, is about 10 minutes drive to the west. This property is ideally suited to those seeking a countryside location close to the seaside, or for walkers who will be drawn to this wonderful spot by the wealth of walking countryside right on the doorstep. Anyone wanting to explore the local area by car will find themselves well placed to easily access the many attractions of East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset.
The open-plan ground floor comprises a large sitting room, with traditional flagstone floor and a cosy log burner, leading on to a well equipped, fitted kitchen with dining area. There are two spacious bedrooms set into the eves of the first floor. Guests in The Barn have access to six acres of grounds, including wild meadows and a small lake (coarse fishing allowed), and are free to wander and enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is encouraged by the welcoming owner.
