Its beautiful history can be seen in the Scottish Fisheries Museum which rests alongside the busy and colourful harbour. Seascape is perfect for the keen golfer with Anstruther and St Andrews golf courses located close by. If you are visiting between May and September, take a boat trip form here and look out for puffins, seals and other wildlife on your journey to the Isle of May. Anstruther is the principal village on Fife’s East Neuk Coast and was formerly two distinct burghs, Anstruther West and East. The two parts of the village are divided by the Dreel Burn. Anstruther was originally founded as a fishing village and played a major role in the Scottish herring industry. The history is well documented in the Scottish Fisheries Museum sitting alongside the attractive and busy harbour. Now popular with tourists, Anstruther offers many cafes, bars, galleries and restaurants including the award-winning Anstruther Fish Bar, and tourists sit around the harbour enjoying their traditional fish and chips.
