Description
The kitchen is compact, yet offers all your need to dish up a hearty meal after a walk along the coast. Unwind on one of the sofas in the lounge and warm your toes on a cool winter's night in front of the fire. The wall-mounted TV can provide some entertainment, or simply sit with your loved ones and catch up on the day's adventures. A short stroll away is the train station at Millom, which connects to all major destinations, so leave the car behind and journey on an adventure through the Lake District. Muncaster Castle offers a lovely family day out just 15 miles away. From here, you can take the miniature railway from Ravenglass, known locally as the La'al Ratty, and travel 7 miles to the village of Boot, near the The Wrynose Pass. Barrow, Whitehaven and Workington are all within a 40-minute drive, boasting shops, restaurants, dock museums and attractions. Haverigg and its beach is one mile away, with various activities such as water skiing and banana boating, and you can stop off for refreshments and light bites at the ski bar or the locally appraised Herdwicks restaurant/cafe. Also within Haverigg, located by the beach is a park, tennis court, cafe and swimming pool. Further afield, you can discover mountain biking at Grizedale, boat trips of lake Windermere and even climb Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. This delightful getaway offers just the break you need.
Millom lies on the southern edges of the Lake District National Park near the River Duddon. Millom Museum offers an insight to its past, as do the remains of Millom Castle. Haverigg, with its Blue Flag beach, a restored lighthouse and children's adventure play areas, is ideal for a family day out.
