Simply kick off your boots and hang your coats in the boot room before stepping into an Edwardian dining room complete with electric style log burner and seating six people easily around a large oak table where you can enjoy family gatherings over a home cooked meal, carry on through to a large family lounge with two comfy sofas and a multi fuel log burner to toast your toes and watch the flames as evenings draw in. Each bedroom has a variety of modern furnishings to store your personal items with lovely views around the village or across the open fields. To the rear of Hazeldene is an enclosed lawned garden and patio area, with plenty of seating to relax in or, throw open the French windows from the dining room and enjoy the evening air while eating a family meal in the dining room, relaxing while safely watching your little ones run around in this enclosed safe area. The river Gaunless travels through the area and offers some outstanding walks alongside it and there is plenty of open countryside and woodland in which to enjoy a leisurely stroll, ramble or dog walk. Hammerstley, a near by village has a pub which serves good food, children and pets are welcome. Butterknowle has a pub, local shop and amenities. Barnard Castle and all the amenities this town has to offer including the best chippy around, E49, but beware because of its super food we suggest you get there early or book a table. It is a mere 5 miles away down a steady drop out of the clouds of Copley village and on down through the valley all the while being entranced with superb views. This bustling town hosts a farmers market every week and has some great, traditional pubs, restaurants and cafes that line the street. Carry on through the town to Bowes Museum which must be experienced and thoroughly enjoyed. Bishop Auckland is 10 miles away, this lively upcoming tourist venue with the newly opened Auckland Tower, The mining art museum with its evocative modern paintings of life both above and below ground, truly inspiring pictures that children revel in seeing. The world famous Kyrenen. The huge swimming centre for those with energy to burn. A little further afield is the city of Durham with its university, castle and cathedral, all lit up for Christmas is a truly spectacular sight. Take a short drive to the medieval Raby Castle, dating back to the 14th century and situated in 200 acres of deer park. Hamsterley Forrest is four miles away and is a delightful five thousand acre site of popular walks including the Gruffalo Trail, picnic areas, orienteering and with its super Red Track for cyclists of all capabilities.
