A slightly further walk of 10 minutes will take you to Whitby’s sandy beach, where you can enjoy a paddle in the sea or a sunbathing session. Take a tour of the Gothic ruins if you’re brave enough, or discover the history behind the Abbey, said to have been the home of the first known English poet and an inspiration for Bram Stoker’s famous novel ‘Dracula’. Nearby, the remarkable landscapes of the North York Moors border is a haven for any outdoor enthusiast, as well as offering plenty of walking and cycling opportunities.
