Description
Offering spacious rooms, this former post office cleverly combines character with all the conveniences of modern living and is the ideal base from which to tour rural Dorset and the Jurassic Coast
With an abundance of lovely walks to explore from the doorstep, the bustling village of Maiden Newton is a great base for exploring all that Dorset has to offer. The village has a good selection of local amenities including an award winning village shop, a café, a pub, a restaurant, a fish and chip shop and an enclosed children's play area, all just a few minutes walk from the property. Why not leave the car behind and take the train from the nearby station in the village and head to Dorchester, Weymouth or beyond. To the north east is the historic village of Cerne Abbas with its picture post card streets and famous hillside giant. Here you can take in the sights or try out the popular cafe for afternoon tea. Heading south from the cottage you will find the stunning Jurassic Coastline, backed by idyllic towns and villages including Lyme Regis, West Bay and Bridport, which are the perfect backdrop for lazy days spent browsing the boutique shops or simply unwinding on the beach. From the village lane take the main entrance into this terraced property. The door opens into a welcoming hallway, which is the ideal spot to leave muddy boots after a stroll through the countryside. On the left is a useful separate WC and heading further into the cottage you will find the well equipped kitchen/diner, which has an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. This light and bright room has space in which to dine, whilst looking out over the garden and there is also a separate snug area with a TV and a feature electric fireplace. Heading back to the front of the cottage will bring you to the lounge, which has a lovely cosy ambience as it has a toasty wood burner as well as a TV with DVD, ideal for cosy evenings in. A flight of stairs leads from the hallway up to the first floor. There are a choice of pretty bedrooms here, including a double room to the rear with an en suite shower and WC and views of the garden. A further double room and a small double suitable for one adult or two children sit to the front of the cottage and offer views over the village street. These two rooms share the stylish bathroom, which has a wonderful roll top bath as well as a separate shower and a WC. Heading outside from the kitchen or snug area you will find a fully enclosed garden with a small patio area with outdoor seating and a lawn bordered by a long flower bed. Garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ make this the perfect place to unwind with a drink or light meal. To the front of the property you will find roadside parking.
