This Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty is a haven for walkers, well served by foot if you leave the grounds. You can enjoy a stroll through the woodlands of Buckholt, in springtime there are bluebells and in autumn, magnificent golden beech trees. The village of Cranham is at the bottom of the valley, you can savour a lazy lunch in the pub or push yourself with a circular walk to Sheepscombe. The Cotswold Way is also accessible, where you can see the famous Cheese Rolling hill, enjoy the views from Painswick Beacon or have a relaxing afternoon tea in the village of Painswick. There are many other places to explore, along with Cheltenham famed for the Gold Cup and Literature Festival, the Stroud Saturday food market and Cirencester, to spend a day in the shops.
