This unique escape will provide a break to remember with its original character, vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and impressive doorways situated in a sleepy village surrounded by countryside.

The property originally formed the defensive entrance to the village rectory and a courtyard of medieval buildings, the rectory and outbuildings were rebuilt in 1698 and then demolished in the 19th century, but the gatehouse escaped intact. In the village there is a pub and Post Office. The village benefits from its proximity to the A64 and A1/M1 link, offering easy access to Leeds. Nearby Tadcaster has extensive local facilities and the historic city of York is just eight miles away and offers many art galleries and museums to explore, along with racing at York Racecourse. Selby Abbey, Byland Abbey, Castle Howard, Harewood House, Bolton Castle, Hovingham Hall, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal in Ripon are fantastic historical houses and gardens which are well worth a visit. Step in through the dramatic wooden doors into the fresh and inviting kitchen which offers everything you need to rustle up a meal during your stay. There is an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. The breakfast bar with seating, provides a space to sit and chat with good company. On the ground floor is a shower room with shower and WC. Head up the steep stairs to the first floor and the impressive vaulted ceiling and open plan lounge/diner/sleeping area will be sure to impress. The dining area has table which provides a romantic setting for a special dinner. Move over to the comfortable sofa or sink into an armchair after dinner, put your feet up and watch something on the TV. Come bedtime, retire to the sleeping area with unique four poster super king size bed and get a good nights rest. Take in the fresh country air in the decked area for sitting and enjoying the peace and quiet surrounded by mature trees. There is parking for two cars. Need to know: 1 sleeping area four poster super king size. 1 shower room with shower and WC. Electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. TV in lounge. Underfloor heating in kitchen. Parking for 2 cars. Shop 2 miles and pub within walking distance Please note the pub is not currently open. Buses to York run four times daily. Regret no children, babes in arms welcome. Please note steps to the decking are steep and stairs are fairly steep internally.
