Description
The property dates back to at least 1850 and was in part designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, designer of the fabulous Italianate town of Portmeirion, and features five bedrooms with some boasting gorgeous views of the River Dwyfach. The country-style kitchen/diner with beautiful slate flooring is a homely setting to relax in with good food and company at the end of an adventure-filled day, with a woodburning stove to warm you whatever the weather, a long dining table with a seat for everyone, and a kitchen space complete with a large range cooker and gas hob, perfect for a big family meal. Step into the garage-come-utility to find the laundry facilities and another fridge/freezer, and find a bathroom on the ground floor too, along with one king-size bedroom and one large double bedroom, one featuring Jack-and-Jill access to the bathroom, and the other enjoying its own en-suite shower room and a DVD TV only. Head upstairs to settle in the first-floor sitting room and relax before the TV and electric fire, with a large window in here looking over the garden and running water below, it receives lots of light creating a lovely space. Two excellent double bedrooms have been added to the property in more recent years, with these rooms sharing the shower room between them, while the single bedroom has bathroom on this floor with a bath and shower over. All the bedrooms benefit from plenty of storage and elegant decor, offering each guest a tranquil spot to rest in at the end of the day. Enjoy beautiful days in the unique tiered garden, where a slate patio holds seating for alfresco dining and a long stretch of lawn which drops down to further tiers, finishing by the riverside. Pleasant afternoons can be spent out here with the sound of the water running as a perfect soundtrack to your relaxing North Wales break. The village of Llanystumdwy is home to one pub, while a 3-mile journey will bring you to the town of Criccieth, a seaside town with a good selection of local shops and pubs to enjoy. Visit the ruins of Criccieth Castle built by the Welsh prince, Llywelyn the Great, before heading to Criccieth Beach for a day on the shores, with views on a clear day stretching to Harlech Beach across Cardigan Bay. A day out to Portmeirion to see more of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis' work is a must; expect to find iconic architecture, bright and vibrant buildings, exotic gardens and sandy beaches, with cafés and restaurants scattered between. Head in the other direction along the Wales Coast Path to explore further along the Llyn Peninsula, passing through Penychain, Aberech and onto Pwllheli, a popular sailing town with a busy marina. Travel into the depths of the Snowdonia National Park for spectacular scenery and unspoilt natural beauty, whether exploring on foot or bike.
