Once being the servants’ quarters, Tweed is the upper apartment of two in a Grade B listed building. Park up in the two off-road parking spaces for Tweed, head through the front door and up the stairs to the first floor door, leading you into the open-plan living space. Two plush sofas are arranged around the TV in the corner, a perfect spot to relax in after a busy day of activities, with a dining table behind it and a contemporary kitchen space. Discover a good range of appliances in the kitchen, including a handy washing machine, and an electric oven and hob among them. There are two well-presented bedrooms, the master bedroom home to a double bed, with the second bedroom being a twin, each enjoying plenty of space and storage. Find the shared bathroom to be fully tiled with a bath and shower over, so you can choose to indulge in a relaxing soak or get a refreshing shower. Tweed benefits from a lovely outdoor area with sea views – a higher level garden with seating, so you can enjoy a sunny summer evening outside with a drink in hand. Take a stroll into the village to find all you need for a great stay, including restaurants and takeaways when you want to take a night off from cooking, and several excellent and friendly pubs that you can delight in a well-deserved drink after a long walk. Dunrobin Castle is an incredible French-chateau style stately home, the largest in the Northern Highlands and home to Clan Sutherland since the 15th Century, boasting a museum and frequent has falconry displays, also allowing you to wander around the formal gardens and take in the gorgeous views overlooking the sea. Just over a 20-minute drive away is The Glenmorangie Distillery, where you can enjoy a distillery tour and a tasting masterclass, perfect for whisky lovers – also worth a visit are Clynelish in Brora and Balblair in Edderton; the latter featured in the film ‘The Angel’s Share’. Golf enthusiasts will revel in knowing here are a number of quality golf courses nearby including Brora, Golspie, Royal Dornoch and Tain. Head to Loch Fleet Nature Reserve to experience this beautiful landscape, home to a huge range of wildlife and plant life, you can delight in seal and otter spotting, birdwatching, and walking through wildflowers or woodland. The Highland Wildcat Trails are superb mountain biking trails set in Golspie, above the Dornoch Firth, and feature the longest freeride descent in the UK from the summit of Ben Bhraggie (1300 ft to sea-level), with varying routes designed for all levels ranging from woodland trails to more technical routes on open hills at higher elevation. Golspie village is a short walk down the hill from Tweed, and offers tennis courts, a bowling green and a swimming pool. Enjoy Golspie Beach with its clean sands and calm waters, it is a popular spot whatever the weather, with amazing views across to Moray Firth, you can get your bucket and spade or take a long coastal stroll.
