Description
The cosy lounge has window seats, deep-cushioned furnishings and a woodburning stove. A dining room with oak beams, slate floor & antique pine dining table. The kitchen is neat and well-equipped, with deep steps leading up to the patio and gardens. Upstairs to 2 sophisticated and cosy bedrooms and family bathroom. The immediate lawned garden has open views across the Lyth valley to Whitbarrow. At the top of the garden there are chairs to allow you to sit back, relax and enjoy the tranquil setting. Beyond the lawned garden, the remaining 2 acres of land has meandering pathways through trees, bushes and shrubs with the surrounding areas left to encourage a safe haven for local wildlife & there is a pond. With a feeling of complete seclusion, approached via a quiet leafy lane, a place to recharge away from the rush. Whilst at the same time being near to excellent pub dining and all the hustle and bustle of Windermere lake shore. You'll find wonderful walks & cycle routes in every direction and the surrounding Lyth Valley is very picturesque, famous for its damsons and damson blossom in spring. A favourite route is the short but steep ascent of Gummers How, where you can enjoy one of the finest views of Lake Windermere. Windermere Golf Club is nearby, with a superb scenic course & views. In Bowness itself, you'll find everything you need for stocking up the kitchen; supermarket, local shops, delicatessens and more. There are also a wide range of restaurants, bars & cafes here. You can also take an elegant Windermere steamer cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - a great way to explore without driving and you'll find many more Lake District attractions to explore in both these popular villages. From Bowness, it's also easy to explore further afield in the Lakes. The A591 junction is only a couple of miles up the road, forming the famously scenic route into the heart of the Lakes, to Ambleside & Grasmere.
Crosthwaite is a small village set in the picturesque Lyth Valley, famous for its damson trees, and boasts a lovely pub known nationally for its excellent food. The lakeside towns of Windermere and Bowness are nearby, with plenty of activities, interest and entertainment for all ages. Also within easy reach is the popular market town of Kendal, an historic Lakeland town with a fine reputation for shopping. Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden, are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay.
