The house itself is comfortable and cosy, with deep walls and window nooks, making it feel safe and sheltered. Recently renovated, the house is immaculately decorated, with clean white walls and all the modern conveniences you could need. Even the modern furnishings and features to not deter from the homeliness and warmth the cottage has clearly always felt. The ground floor boasts an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, with windows in two directions, capturing the surrounding landscapes. The kitchen is full equipped and at the heart of the room there is a fantastic fireplace, which warms the entire cottage; there really is nothing better after long walks and adventures, than curling up by the fire. A television, DVD’s and books provide plenty of entertainment for cosy nights in.
Two bedrooms and a family bathroom complete the house, with one double room looking out upon the sea, and a twin bedroom under the eaves of the first floor. Simple and relaxed, each room is like a private haven, so you can return home to a warm bath and a cosy night sleep, saving up energy for another day of adventure in the Highlands!
Outside, the views are striking, stretching out in every direction, with the blend of emerald green, earthy rocks and the rich colour of the Sea; it is impossible to draw your gaze away. Completely undisturbed, there is a complete sense of tranquillity, that makes relaxing second nature. Whether you are looking for creative inspiration, for an active holiday, or simply for some quiet time as a family, Ardentallan Cottage is the perfect place; a unique holiday home that you will never want to leave.
Ardentallan Cottage is all about location, set amongst the breath-taking Scottish Highlands with nature right on the doorstep. If you are looking for a remote escape and for an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, then this is the perfect spot. Ardentallan Cottage is located 9km from Oban on the Kintyre Peninsula, in the Argyll and Bute region. It is Gruff motor access to the property via an unsealed road which leads to parking 350 metres from the cottage itself. The remote location means a vehicle is essential to get around, although once you’re there, it is hard to ever drive away!
Although Ardentallan Cottage often feels as though it is on the edge of the world, there are plenty of amenities nearby. A restaurant and bar with brilliant reviews can be found just 4km away, whilst a grocery, supermarket and railway station are all within a 30-minute drive of the cottage. However, from the property itself the views are of only emerald grass, rocky outcrops and the vivid Sea stretching as far as the eye can see.
Nearby, Oban is the largest town between Helensburgh and Fort William. It may be a small town, but it has heaps to offer with plenty of things to see and do. Surrounded by miles of dramatic shores and beautiful countryside, outdoor enthusiasts will be in heaven, whilst those who prefer the indoors are well taken care of as well. The Oban Distillery is both one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and one of the smallest with just two pot stills. Pre-dating the town of Oban itself, this historic landmark is a must visit; and of course, the whisky is a must taste! From Oban you can take a ferry to visit the nearby islands across the Firth of Lorn, exploring even more of what Scotland has to offer.
Outdoors the options are endless, from hiking, walking and climbing, to mountain biking, fishing and golf, as well as so much more. You will find several companies running various excursions, or you can head out on your own. There are several golf courses within reach of Ardentallan Cottage, making a round or two the perfect accompaniment to a wholesome holiday.
