Description
You will enter the cottage via the rear door (passing the washer / dryer in the utilities area). The kitchen diner then greets you:simply but beautifully presented with a range of built in cupboards and units lining two sides of the room, containing all the facilities you could need to create some mouth watering dishes to be enjoyed around the farmhouse kitchen table, lined on 2 sides by cosy bench seating; a lovely place to spend a few hours and catch up on the day's events. As you pass into the entrance hall you will notice one of the cottage's more quirky features; a viewing window set into the floor - but more of that in a moment. You then enter into one of the cottage's beautifully appointed lounges, with sumptuous sofas and a lovely log-burner, which would help to ramp up the atmosphere on chilly winter evenings. Back in the entrance hall you will find stairs leading both up, and down. Heading downstairs (and please do so with caution as these stairs are steeper than you might normally find and a foldaway stairgate has been installed at the top of the stairs to ensure the safety of toddlers), you will find the second lounge, again lovingly appointed with comfortable seating and another log-burner; ideal if you want peace and quiet.Going back up to the entrance hall and taking the stairs to the first floor (and again due to the age of the cottage these stairs are steeper than normal) you will find the sleeping accommodation, comprising of 2 double bedrooms (one with a standard double and one with a king size double) and a single bedroom. You will also find the beautifully appointed family bathroom. Outside the cottage you have the fully enclosed patio, furnished with table and chairs, and it really is a beautiful setting in which to enjoy a spot of al-fresco dining. If you can tear yourself away from this superb base, then why not take a stroll across the fields and enjoy the hospitality of The Fox in Great Barrington, a lovely, traditional riverside inn which lies less than1 mile away from the cottage. Venturing a little further afield, you will be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful towns and villages that the Cotswolds has to offer, including Bourton on the Water (6 miles), Stow-on-the Wold (10 miles), Burford (4 miles) and the historic city of Oxford, which can be reached in about 40 minutes. Perfectly located for discovering all that this part of the Cotswolds has to offer, Molly's Cottage is the ideal base for friends and family alike at any time of year.
This unique and historic town is nestled within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, boasting a variety of things to do in the local area. Popular for being the site of Windsor Castle, one of the official residences of the royal family, this town offers something for everyone to enjoy. Discover the longest path you've ever seen, turning your back on the famous castle and taking in the glorious views of the Long Walk, which leads in a straight line to Snow Hill, a raised mound topped by a statue of George III. Make sure you also pay a visit to the church of All Saints situated on Frances Road, where a lost altarpiece of the notable Thomas Hardy was found behind a screen, while the river side offers lovely walks with a congregation of swans to be spotted either side of the bridge. Find Britain's shortest street just to the left of the Crooked House at Queen Charlotte Street and marvel at the building that really does seem like it's about to fall over. There is plenty more on offer in this beautiful town, with independent and high street shops, pus, bars, restaurants and intriguing history everywhere you go. This popular destination is also home to Legoland Windsor Resort, a lively theme park and a delight for those bringing the kids along for a fun day out with all the family. Let's not forget, you also have the Royal Windsor Racecourse, the 17th century Frogmore House and Gardens and Windsor Guildhall, and further afield you have the fabulous city of London just a train ride away. A superb base for your next holiday down south.
