Fir Tree Cottage is a refurbished annex, adjoined to the owners house, yet still perfectly secluded. Decorated to a high standard, as you enter the cottage through the back door you’re taken into the open-plan kitchen dining room. A fully-fitted kitchen with microwave-oven, fridge, kettle and toaster invite you to cook up a storm. Walk through to the living area, you’ll find a plush sofa for two with views outside and a dining table to seat four. Head up the wooden stairs to a spacious room with king-sized bed, with plenty of storage for two with a bookcase and tall boy. The bathroom is connected to the bedroom and comprises a shower cubicle, sink and toilet, everything needed for a couples escape. The outside area behind Fir Tree Cottage can be accessed via the steps to the front of the property, up a slight incline to enjoy the views over the countryside and the mountains behind. Ideally located, Fir Tree Cottage is just a 35 minute drive to Brecon Beacons National Park, perfect for nature lovers and walkers alike. With miles and miles of open space to explore on foot or by horse, you can also take part in a range of water sports or even head underground for an exciting caving experience before heading back to relax and unwind. Head East and you’ll end up at the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just another 30 minute drive away. The River Wye, one of Britain’s most natural rivers, is surrounded by expansive conservation areas, where you can enjoy a range of activities including walking, canoeing, and cycling. There’s plenty of trails to explore before you head out for an afternoon in the woods. A little closer to Fir Tree Cottage is the town of Abergavenny just 15 minutes away. Proudly known as The Gateway to Wales, it is steeped in history with its many castles and medieval stone walls surrounding the town. Visit Abergavenny castle or stroll through the town where you’ll find plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants to suit all. The vibrant city of Newport is located 37 miles away, the third largest city in Wales and known for its docks and Roman remains. If what you’re looking for is a relaxing day by the sea, the coastal city of Swansea is less than an hours drive, with long stretches of golden sand, or the Maritime Quarter offers chic waterside bars and restaurants in the old dockland area on Swansea Bay. With so much to see and do in the area, Fir Tree Cottage is the perfect base for couples looking to unwind and explore all the natural beauty that Wales has to offer.
Resting at the head of the South Wales Valleys is Brynmawr.
