Description
You enter the property into a the utility room at the side of the cottage, with a dishwasher and a highchair available, which also makes an ideal place to leave any shoes and coats, before moving further through the property. Discover the open-plan living space, with a well-equipped kitchen, where you can rustle up a family breakfast to enjoy round the dining table as you plan your day ahead. In the sitting area, there is a relaxing log effect electric fire which you can flick on at the end of the evening, choosing a good film to watch and relaxing back on the sofa, not forgetting to grab some popcorn! Moving upstairs, there is a bathroom with both bath and shower, so choose to take a long soak or a quick freshen up, before heading to your chosen bedroom to relax and rejuvenate.There is a single bedroom with a cot, making even the youngest guests feel right at home, plus a king-size and a double room, both with storage to unpack personal belongings and lovely home-style decorations with bold colours and a mirror, so you can get ready in style. Heading up to the second floor, there is a large attic-style bedroom with character beams, Velux windows allowing in lots of light, three single beds beneath the sloping ceiling and a seating area, making it the perfect space for children to unwind and play games before catching up on rest. The small, friendly village of Bootle has a local shop for any essentials (food, off-licence, toiletries, post office) you may need during your stay, as well as a cute café which also sells little holiday gifts and postcards. A short drive into the coastal town of Millom there is a Grade I listed castle, a charming garden which is great for a picnic on a sunny day, and an abundance of bars, shops and eateries for when you feel like an evening out. Or take a short drive to Ravenglass, where you can find the historic Roman Bath House, the Ravenglass light railway, lovely tearooms on the estuary, a large rocky beach and the stunning River Esk running through. Nearby Muncaster Castle is a historic house and gardens open to visitors with lots of family fun activities offered throughout the year, and also hosts the renowned World Owl Sanctuary all open to the public. Nearby Haverigg is home to a gorgeous Blue Flag beach, an interesting restored lighthouse, a children's playground, a fish and chip shop and a 7-tonne sculpture known as ‘Escape to Light’, constructed by Josefina de Vasconcellos to pay tribute to the Inshore Rescue Teams in the UK. The property is surrounded by the beautiful Lake District National Park, which boasts many great walking and cycling opportunities, with beautiful views of land, sea and mountains. There are many great sandy and rocky beaches along this coast and golf courses and lots of leisure activities. Take a walk up to Black Combe with a small local waterfall along the way, or for a more action-packed day , visit the popular Go Ape Activity Centre in Grizedale. Also in the region, you can take the children to see a host of fascinating wildlife at the superb South Lakes Safari Zoo or the National Nature Reserve of Sandscale Haws, with its outstanding dune habitat supporting a plethora of wildlife. Springholm is a great holiday base for discovering everything the Lake District has to offer.

Situated between the western fells and the stunning Cumbrian coastline, Bootle boasts some of the best Lake District scenery, and is conveniently situated between Barrow, Ulverston and Whitehaven.
