The quaint village of Penmachno is surrounded by hills and forests, within the county of Conwy, Wales. The village is accessed along a long narrow mountain road from Ffestinoig that suddenly plunges into the secluded Machno Valley. Within the centre of the village lies an 18th century bridge which has a church containing a noteworthy collection of early Christian burial stones. Penmachno is a popular centre for walking, riding and – especially – mountain biking, with a scenic mydriad of trails stretching through Gwydyr Forest.
