The renowned Beamish Open Air Museum that vividly recreates life in the North of England in the late 1800s and early 1900s is just 3 miles away and is an essential day out. The historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral, which is regarded as the finest Norman building in Europe, is a mere 10 miles away. Durham is one the most beautiful cities in England, with spectacular architecture, tree-lined river bank walks and winding streets. Durham Cricket ground, which hosts many international matches is just 10 minutes away.
