The Nook at Great Buckhurst Farm, is a quirky apartment tucked away down a quiet country lane, and is an ideal place from which to explore the 1066 country. The holiday apartment is situated adjacent to the owner’s home at Great Buckhurst Farm, and is a comfortable first floor apartment from which to discover this fascinating part of England, which is steeped in history. Walking enthusiasts can relish in the proximity of footpaths across to the pretty village of Sedlescombe, with its excellent pubs and half-timbered houses, some of which date back to the 15th-century. Whilst exploring the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, visit Sedlescombe’s organic vineyard. Visitors are welcome to join an informative tour and sample some of the splendid English wines that they make. Alternatively Chapel Down’s winery is a good place to stop, which is en-route to Tenterden, known as the ’Jewel of the Weald’. Here you can see the actress Helen Terry’s home at Smallhythe Place (National Trust), Battle Abbey and the site of the famous battlefield, all making for a fascinating day out with your family. Watch the fishing fleet land its catch, just 5 miles down the road at Hastings. Here you can also see the ruins of Hastings Castle and discover the old towns smuggling past amongst the caves. There are some good rail connections from Battle to London, which makes for a great day out, with additional sightseeing opportunities available. Beach 4½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.
