No smoking. . This traditional stone built, semi detached cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the west coast of Argyll. Next to Stonefield Castle and only 2 miles away from the small, bustling harbour town of Tarbert, Shepherd’s Cottage makes a great base for those wishing to visit the islands of Islay, Gigha and Arran. For the keen walkers and nature lovers the Kintyre Peninsula with its stunning scenery and rugged coastline is only a short drive away. There is a choice of forest trails offering excellent mountain biking and cycling nearby, or enjoy a leisurely walk along the banks of the Crinan Canal. The area is surrounded by history, with Kilmartin Glen and Dunadd Fort being just a couple places where you can visit Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments, ancient castles, burial chambers, standing stones, rock carvings and ruined forts. The wonderful village of Tarbert is close by and is renowned for its seafood, and hosts a seafood festival every year. The small town of Lochgilphead is around 11 miles north, and Oban, known as the seafood capital of the UK, is around 48 miles north. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 400 yards. Free WiFi
