Llangollen is just 2 miles away and has a range of pubs and restaurants. Stroll alongside the River Dee or take a horse drawn narrowboat trip along the Llangollen Canal. You can let off steam on the Llangollen Railway with a picturesque ride along the line to Corwen, learn about the two Ladies of Llangollen, and check your head for heights on the 136ft high Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which carries the canal over the valley. Climb up to Dinas Bran Castle, or attend an event at the Royal Pavilion - home of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod which takes place in July each year with competitors from all over the world. A short distance away are the National Trust properties of Chirk Castle and Erddig, whilst Attingham Park near Shrewsbury is also well worth a visit, as is the historic city of Chester with its cathedral, town walls and famous Rows.
