The Cowshed is part of Holme Farm, the farmhouse and cowshed both being built in 1653, the oldest buildings in the village of Lofthouse. Holme Farm was built with a loft area for wool drying, hence the village being named Lofthouse. The farm was originally a friary occupied by lay monks who worked in the lucrative wool industry in the Yorkshire Dales and was owned by Fountains Abbey. The Cowshed has been carefully restored into a superb holiday cottage. The open plan living area includes a stylish, hand-built kitchen and a roaring multi-fuel burner. The owners have taken great care to provide very comfortable accommodation with super kingsized beds which can be split into twin beds in the bedrooms and both en-suites have large, pumped digital showers. There is a small south facing garden where visitors can relax and enjoy wonderful countryside views. The delightful Nidderdale village of Lofthouse has a welcoming, dog-friendly, traditional Yorkshire pub, serving great beer and hearty food. Numerous shops, cafés and inns can be found in the bustling market towns of Pateley Bridge, 7 miles, and Masham, 10 miles, and Ramsgill, 2 miles is home to a renowned Michelin starred restaurant.
