The picturesque village of Stillington is close by and offers a range of useful amenities, including a community shop, two pubs and a fish and chip shop, whilst the Georgian market town of Easingwold, 3½ miles away, is a food lover’s paradise where the cobbled square is lined with teashops, bistros and quaint independent shops. Numerous walking and cycling trails can be found in the surrounding area of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and golfers can enjoy the 18-hole golf course which lies in woodland and heath, close to Easingwold. The ancient city of York is just 11 miles away, packed with attractions and steeped in history with an amazing variety of museums, theatres and restaurants. Visit the stately homes at Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall and the abbey ruins at Rievaulx.
