Being only a 50-yard stroll to the beautiful, sandy beach at Porth, on a private road, Beachside is all that it promises to be - a detached, beachside holiday home on one of Cornwall’s best family beaches. The stone-built cottage is set back from a private road, with its own parking space a short walk to the front door through lovely gardens. A master bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a double bedroom, allow the cottage to easily sleep 6 people, with a large living room and a kitchen/dining room. The cottage has Sky TV (basic package) and fast internet, as well as a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave making it comfortable to live in. You will be spoilt for things to do each day, from cliff walks along the coastal path, to rock pooling for crabs and fishing in the river that flows into the sea along one side of the beach. The surf is often up, with the shallow waters and lifeguards on duty making it great for all the family to body board and play in the waves. Walks from here are fantastic, and at low-tide you can make your way between Porth Island and the headland through to Watergate Bay, or stroll atop the cliff path to watch the sunset from the end of the Island – all just a short walk from the cottage. A local tearoom is just yards from Beachside’s front door - the perfect spot to start the day with a proper Cornish coffee or breakfast before you head out for the day. The very family friendly beach, has its own pub serving good food, and is found right on the sand, with a terrace that overlooks the beach - a perfect spot to enjoy the evening sun with a drink whilst the kids play nearby. Or you can join in the famous pub quiz! Lusty Glaze is a private beach next door to Porth, accessed via a 5-minute walk over the cliffs, where you can take surf lessons or even go on a jet ski safari. Porth is a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive from Newquay, which sits to the west, with its surf culture, shopping, golf club, night-life, zoo, cafés and restaurants. Newquay’s bustling harbour, with its resident seals, is a great place to book a sea fishing trip on one of the day boats that will take you to catch mackerel, deep sea fish and even sharks. Who knows, you may even catch the evening supper for the barbecue back at Beachside. Watergate Bay lies 5 minutes’ drive to the east (or a bracing 30-minute walk), with peeling, world class waves, a favourite with more experienced surfers and home to beach cafés, surf schools and a kite surfing centre. Another beach at Whipsiderry, sitting between Porth and Watergate Bay, is a dog friendly beach all year round, accessible by its own steps from the cliff top. A walk to the end of Porth Island is also a perfect place for dogs to run off the lead, all just minutes away from Beachside. Padstow is a 25-minute drive away, with its high quality foodie haunts, including Rick Stein’s various restaurants. It is also the start of an off road cycle or walking trail that hugs the shore of the Camel Estuary from Wadebridge - a must if even for the fish and chips on the quayside. Truro, Eden (near St Austell), St Ives and Fowey are also easily reached from this part of Cornwall and a must for visitors who want to experience the diversity of the Duchy. Beach 50 yards. Shop ½ mile, pub 150 yards, restaurant 25 yards. Free WiFi
