Westnewton is situated on a relatively flat plain halfway between the Lake District National Park and the Solway Firth, making it a perfect base to explore, be it on two wheels, foot or by car. With the popular market town of Keswick just 20 miles away, you can soon be amongst some of the finest fell ranges, vast lakes and many tourist attractions. To the north you can be in the historical city of Carlisle, with shops, museums and a castle to discover. There is a private swimming pool 2 miles away, and a public swimming pool 3 miles. Lammtarra is 10 miles from the pretty market town of Cockermouth, with a great selection of independent shops, restaurants and brewery, 9miles from coastal town of Maryport with its aquarium and marina and beaches. Bassenthwaite Lake is 13 miles drive away you can visit Dodd Wood and Mirehouse with its walled gardens and picnic by the lake shore.
