Private parking for 5 cars. Wheelchair access. No smoking. . Cross Farmhouse is a luxurious, four-bedroom retreat situated in rural east Dorset, close to the Hampshire County boundary. The New Forest National Park and Cranborne Chase, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are both just a couple of miles from the property. The farmhouse is set within its own grounds of landscaped gardens, in a quiet location on the edge of the village of Alderholt. It has been renovated to a high standard with a view to catering to all your holiday needs, in a relaxing environment. On the ground floor, the open plan kitchen/breakfast room is fully equipped, whilst the living/dining room features roof lights and is comfortably furnished. Cross Farmhouse boasts four kingsize en-suite bathrooms. On the ground floor, the ’Corfe’, bedroom is wheelchair friendly and features a walk-in shower. Upstairs, the ’Cathedral’ bedroom has two armchairs and a walk-in shower, the ’Durdle’ room has an en-suite with a luxurious bathtub, and the ’Henge’ room has an en-suite shower room. The gardens to the front and back of the property have been landscaped and offer total seclusion. There is a large terrace with a Weber gas BBQ and contemporary outdoor seating. There is a paved sloping path leading up to the extra wide back door, to allow easy access for those needing to enter with a wheelchair. All entrances have at least one step, however there is a portable ramp available which can be put in place to make access in through the back door easier for wheelchair users. All downstairs door widths are extra wide for ADA compliance. there is no smoking in the house, but it is allowed in the garden. The property is just on the edge of the New Forest National Park, which offers endless walking and off-road cycling opportunities. It is surrounded with country villages, all boasting village pubs with local fayre in their restaurants. The neighbouring market town of Fordingbridge has a pub on the river and a great grocers shop for local produce, there is also an organic farm shop close by with its own café. Fordingbridge is known for its medieval bridge with five arches, and has many local shops, boutiques, eateries and a church. Nearby there is a waterpark, which offers windsurfing, sailing, fishing and watersports, and there is horse riding and golf in the area too. This is an excellent scenic walking area, some of which meanders along the River Avon from Salisbury to Christchurch. There are beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole. Places to visit include The New Forest National Park, Winchester and Salisbury with their cathedrals, and Christchurch Harbour. Family days out include Marwell Zoo or the historic ships at Portsmouth. Just down the lane from the farmhouse you can access the dismantled old railway line which has a footpath running along it, leading to an area of woodland with lots of pathways to explore.
