Description
Ground Floor: All on the ground floor. Living/dining room: With open fire, 30" Freeview TV and DVD player. Kitchen: Galley style with electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Bedroom 1: With double bed. Bedroom 2: With twin beds. Bathroom: With shower over bath, and heated towel rail (no toilet). Separate toilet.. Economy 7 heating, electricity, bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and fuel for open fire included. . Large, enclosed front garden with sitting-out area and bench. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. Set in its own grounds, Farr provides peace and seclusion, coupled with incredible sea views. The front door leads into a small entrance hall with large picture windows and a comfortable sofa - an ideal spot to watch the ever-changing seascapes below. The living room has a warm welcoming open fire, as well as a folding dining table seating up to six. The kitchen at the rear of the cottage is small but well-equipped, complete with modern units. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with twin beds. The garden at the front of the cottage is fully enclosed, and is mainly laid to lawn with mature shrubs and flower border, and the land at the rear goes straight up onto open hillside. Deer graze nearby and are likely to be inquisitive visitors at the window! The cottage has been owned by the same family for generations, and the current owners have modernised and improved the accommodation in recent years, now providing a warm, cosy and secluded base in which to relax and to explore the best of this stunning Highland area. Just a mile away is Helmsdale village and the renowned North Coast 500 route, which encompasses some of the most amazing and inspiring landscapes to be found anywhere in the British Isles. Helmsdale has a small, thriving harbour, with brightly coloured cottages straddling the shoreline. Here you will also find a good selection of local shops and restaurants, as well as a fascinating museum detailing the area’s rich and varied past, including a famous 19th century gold rush. Visitors can still pan for gold a few miles outside the village, but make sure you stake your claim in the box provided. There is a lovely coastal walk which is renowned for its fossils and archaeological artefacts. Fishermen still fish for lobster, crabs and clams along this coastline and visitors can sometimes purchase fresh local shellfish direct from the boats. Seals, otters and a wide variety of seabirds can also be spotted close by. Golfers are spoilt for choice, with a number of championship traditional links courses within a short drive, including Brora and Royal Dornoch. Fishing, cycling, hill walking, kayaking and surfing are all enjoyed locally. This region is also renowned for its magnificent unspoilt beaches with a pebble beach just 1 mile away, wild rugged coastline, historic castles and traditional fishing villages. Beach 12 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
