Alan Bank Cottage is tucked away in a private courtyard, and set back from the main farm yard and activity. It is the perfect place to enjoy and explore the surrounding area, yet still maintains that rural retreat. The traditional large rooms that are typical of a Cumbrian farm house offer plenty of space and comfort for everyone. The living room has ample comfy seating to enjoy the warmth of the open fire on those cooler evenings, whilst the dining room leads to the large kitchen, perfect for preparing that hearty meal for everyone. Just off from here is a delightful conservatory, a quiet place to enjoy your morning coffee or sit and lose yourself in a good book. To the first floor there are three bedrooms comfortably sleeping up to six adults, with a family bathroom. The popular market town of Cockermouth is just a short 2 mile drive, the main town centre has numerous independent shops, intriguing alleyways with hidden cafés and crafts, as well as an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants serving good food and ales. Historic attractions include Wordsworth House, the birth place of William Wordsworth and the famous Jennings Brewery can be found close to the castle walls, and is open for tours as well as an excellent brewery shop. If you feel like staying closer to home, the village of Embleton is home to the Embleton Spa Hotel and is a popular place to eat, open to the public with locally sourced food on the menu and a wonderful fell view setting, be it al fresco on the sun terrace or within the main restaurant itself. There are numerous local walks to enjoy for all, and bikers will be keen to tackle the miles of great routes to be found on or off road. Whinlatter forest has trails for every age and golfers have a golf course right on the doorstep. The bustling town of Keswick is just a 10-minute drive away, enjoy an evenings walk along the shores of Derwent Water, or tour around the lake on one of the many launches that can be caught from the jetties.
