Dormouse Cottage is nestled in the peaceful village of Brompton by Sawdon with a lovely stream and duck pond, plus a popular butchers selling fresh local meat, dairy produce, eggs and fresh vegetables. You can also find fabulous walks right from your doorstep, with a coffee shop as well as a wine bar just 10 minutes away. Beautifully furnished throughout, boasting exposed beamed ceilings and a welcoming wood burner. There is a comfortable living room, with seating around the wood burner, perfect for snug nights in. With a separate kitchen and dining area leading out onto the enclosed garden. The well-equipped kitchen means you can create meals to enjoy together either at the dining table or out in the sunshine on the patio. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the master double, as well as a queen bedroom. The house bathroom has a bath with a shower over so you have the option of both. Remember to mind your head upstairs as this characterful cottage has low beams as well as low door frames in places, which is part of the character of this historical quirky cottage. From the windows you look out onto paddocks and the countryside beyond. The village is the birthplace of aeronautics, as this was the home of Sir George Cayley, a pioneer of aviation. It is also where William Wordsworth got married in the pretty All Saints Church. Situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, just a short drive away from the picture perfect village of Thornton-Le-Dale, as well as the ancient market town of Pickering where you can board the North York Moors steam train. There is a host of wonderful walking trails nearby, including many at Dalby Forest which is beautiful through all the seasons and has a tree top zip wire trail for the more adventurous. In less than a 20-minute drive you can be at the coast, walking along the long golden stretch of sand in Scarborough, with the historic seafaring town of Whitby nearby. Whitby boasts a fascinating history, with tales of Captain Cook, smugglers, Vikings and even Dracula, ideal for a day out to remember.
