Very close by lies Chesterfield Canal and River Ryton along with historical Sherwood Forest, home to Robin Hood and the Major Oak. Heading a little further away, you can be in Newark in just half an hour, where you will find a host of events at the showground, including the Nottinghamshire Country Show, antique fairs and dog shows.
