Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. A wonderful property for exploring the Cambrian mountain region where there is plenty to see and do. The village around the property has lots to offer including a pub serving good food and a community shop with café. The property is set equidistant between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth, where the latest season of BBC’s winter watch has had live cameras filming the activity of the famous starlings who roost under the pier during the autumn and winter seasons. The spectacular murmurations draw visitors from near and far. Aberystwyth is also the seat of the National Library, a spectacular building which houses a copy of every book produced and is the starting point of the Rheidol steam railway, which treks through the beautiful surrounding countryside to Devils Bridge, where you can explore the amazing waterfalls and walks around the Hafod estate. The seaside town of Borth is just a few miles (5-minute car drive) westward. Borth is home to the Petrified Forest on the beach, with ancient stumps visible at low tide between Ynyslas and Borth and believed to be 4000 years old. The forest has become associated with a 17th-century myth of a sunken civilization known as ’Cantre’r Gwaelod’, or the ’Sunken Hundred’. It is believed the area was a once-fertile land and township protected by floodgates. Borth is also home to the oldest Links golf course in Wales. The sand dunes of Ynyslas are home to a lot of wildlife and rare species of plants- park at the estuary and explore the visitor centre or walk over the dunes to the sea front. Aberystwyth, Devils Bridge and Ynyslas are also some of the settings for the cult TV series ‘Hinterland’. The lovely market town of Machynlleth offers shops, restaurants and pubs for you to visit, as well as a Wednesday market where you can get lots of lovely local organic produce. Take a visit to the RSPB nature reserves at Ynys Hir (3 miles away) and Cors Dyfi, home to the Osprey Project. Whatever you decide to do on your holiday Nantymynydd is the perfect base. The property is a detached house with an annexe to the side of the property where the owner lives. Please note, that although the village is on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, the mountain is approximately a 2-hour drive away. Walkers wanting to stretch their legs will find Cadair Idris is just a 30 minutes’ drive away. The seaside village of Aberdovey is a 20 mile drive away. Beach 4 miles.
