Buckshole Cottage nestles in an extremely tranquil setting and provides the perfect getaway for couples looking for a creative escape amongst the trees. Located in the grounds of the beautiful Alexandra Park, Hastings largest formal park with 109 acres stretching for 2.5 miles through the heart of the town, it consists of the lower formal gardens and the wilder northern wooded areas. This award-winning park is the perfect place to walk your dog, and is also famed for its arboretum, with one of the best collection of trees in Britain. There is plenty in the local area such as cafés, bowls, tennis, putting and fishing. The cottage itself is accessed by following a path through the beautiful park to your private gated entrance. Away from the main road and the hustle and bustle of Hastings town life, this property is perfect for those looking to relax and unwind. On the ground floor there are two reception rooms heated by a magnificent double-sided wood burner. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a separate pantry with washing machine and separate toilet. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms with a very generous walk-in shower, and a further toilet along with a sewing room. Buckshole Reservoir is right on your doorstep, the water and surroundings support a large variety of wildlife, and fishing for coarse fish, carp and pike is available too (at cost). Hastings beach is less than a mile away, with its soaring cliffs and mix of sand and shingle beach. It runs all the way along the town centre, from the fishing quarter and the Old Town in the east, through the funfairs and amusement arcades of Pelham Place, the renovated pier, the quieter marina area of St Leonards, to Bulverhythe at the western end. Hastings Old Town is a historic seaside town full of charisma and charm. Slightly bohemian and incredibly artsy, the old town comes with oodles of quirk. Its muddle of houses, shops and pubs sit tucked between two cliffs, a 15-minute walk from Hastings main town. Slightly worn in places, Hastings Old Town has a wealth of character and a welcoming community feel. It is small enough to explore on foot, yet plenty to keep you busy. Walk to end of Rock-a-Nore through to the other side of the car park and you will come to Rock-a-Nore beach, with views of Hastings Country Park in the distance. A good spot for picnicking and rock-pooling. Just 20 minutes’ west is the town of Eastbourne. This resort town offers Victorian buildings, 19th-century Eastbourne Pier and a 1930’s bandstand. Towner Art Gallery includes modern British works, and nearby, Redoubt Fortress, built during the Napoleonic Wars, has a military museum. Further along the coast is the South Downs National Park and the tall chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and its striped 1902 lighthouse. The gorgeous sandy beach at Camber Sands is just over 15 miles away. Shop and pub 1 mile, restaurant 1½ miles. Free WiFi
