A warm, charming modern home with a welcoming atmosphere, surrounded by hillside and forestry, Coorie Cottage is perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the sun every day. The small enclosed terraced rear garden offers privacy and child friendly with a shed for bike storage and is perfect for relaxing in the peace and quiet, surrounded by the sounds of nature. Coorie Cottage offers a welcoming home to return to after a day’s exploring the delights of mid Argyll. The light, airy living room has a full-length picture window with views over the front garden over woodland and towards the low hills beyond. It really is the perfect spot to relax and plan your adventures, but also enjoy walking along the nearby canal towpath watching the passing boat traffic along the canal and the wildlife on the canal banks. Cairnbaan is a charming little hamlet sitting along both sides of the Crinan Canal, one of the most beautiful waterways in Britain, just about halfway between the town of Ardrishaig at the eastern end and Crinan at the western end of the waterway and passes through 9 miles of wonderful scenery. The local hotel, 10 minutes’ walk from the cottage, was built in the 1800s to cater for canal travellers and continues to serve delicious food in its cosy bar and restaurant, popular with locals and tourists alike. Crinan harbour is 5 miles away through an attractive winding single track road or a walk or cycle along the canal towpath. Boats can be chartered from Crinan harbour and there are trips around the islands where it is possible to see whales, porpoise, seals, many sea birds including golden and white-tailed eagles, and the spectacular Corryvreckan whirlpools. Right on your doorstep and within 7 miles of the cottage is the renowned Kilmartin Glen and its impressive offering of pre-historic sites, including castles, standing stones, burial cairns, hill forts and Kilmartin Museum. Also, almost right next door is the Moine Mhor, a lowland raised bog of international importance, a rugged and beautiful landscape that is the wild heartland of Kilmartin Glen. The ancient hill fort of Dunadd is just a short distance from the cottage. Outdoor activities, including sailing, walking, fishing, canoeing and riding are available locally. Wildlife includes many woodland birds and birds of prey, beavers, red squirrels, red and roe deer, seals, otters and pine martins. Fresh seafood abounds in the many delightful eating places scattered around the area, where local produce proudly served and deliciously presented. Just a short 3-mile drive takes you to the local country town of Lochgilphead, which has a variety of specialist shops, cafés and restaurants, a swimming pool, golf course and sports centre. Further afield but offering a great day out are the towns of Oban, the Gateway to the Isles to the north, Inveraray, the capital of Argyll, to the east and Campbeltown to the far south on the Kintyre Peninsula.
