There’s a radio, but no TV or Wi-Fi. You won’t need it though with so much beautiful countryside around you to explore. It’s a chance to get off-grid and leave your hectic life behind for a few days. Watch the sun setting or the cows go up for evening milking. Cook dinner on your Indian kadai firebowl and keep warm sitting around it as the evening cools. Have fun on the antique swing, which hangs from the branch of an old ash tree. Listen to the dawn chorus while you wake up after a good night’s sleep, then enjoy your coffee and a Staffordshire breakfast on your terrace. If you are a lover of stargazing, you will really enjoy our dark skies. There are no streetlights around here, and on dark clear nights, the skies are brilliant with stars. It’s certainly a good place to bring a pair of binoculars! The pretty, traditional village of Denstone is close to many fantastic attractions, including the thrilling Alton Towers theme park which is just a few minutes’ drive away. The village has an award-winning farm shop and café and a local inn. Alton is a 6-minute drive away and offers numerous eateries and pubs and a Post Office. Situated on the Churnet Valley Trail and close to the High Peak and Tissington Trails, there are excellent walking and cycling routes available. Located on the edge of the Peak District, there is plenty to do in the area; the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek are easily accessible, as is the town of Uttoxeter. The historic houses of Haddon and Chatsworth are within easy reach, and there are numerous walking, cycling and climbing opportunities straight from the front door. A wonderful part of the Peaks with plenty to do and see whatever time of the year you choose to visit.
