No smoking.. Set in the pretty village of Gilling West, just 3 miles from historic Richmond. Baker’s Cottage is a charming stone cottage, full of character and charm and combines many of the original features with modern day facilities. The cosy living room has a multi-fuel burner, original beams and is warm and welcoming. The separate dining room is perfect to share a meal with friends and a great social space, there is a small well-equipped kitchen and a rear patio area to sit with your morning coffee or glass of wine at the end of the day. The first floor bedroom has a kingsize bed and looks out towards the village, the second bedroom is attic style and has a lovely snug feel with a super kingsize bed that can be converted to twin beds on request. The family bathroom has a relaxing roll top bath. Gilling West is perfect for walkers and cyclists, and there are numerous established public footpaths, walks, cycle routes and bridleways passing directly through the village and out towards Richmond and beyond towards the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Within the village are two popular local pubs, a perfect place to stop off at the end of a day exploring. Being relatively close to the A66 Pennine Way and the A1 network you are within easy driving distance of many popular attractions and locations. The Georgian market town of Richmond is just 3 miles away and is also a great location for guests wanting to visit the impressive historic castle, Georgian theatre, cobbled marketplace with an assortment of good restaurants, coffee shops, bars, independent shops, and galleries. The magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park is also within easy driving distance and the many popular North Yorkshire towns and villages, including Leyburn, Aysgarth, Hawes, Reeth, Muker and Gunnerside. A little farther afield Ripon and Northallerton. Perfect too for a day at the races, Catterick Racecourse is only a 15-minute drive away, and a little further afield you will be able to enjoy all the fun of the York races too.
