It’s simply perfect for families and groups to gather in to cook, eat and entertain at the large table, spill over to the seating area in the conservatory for board games and even straight out into the garden. It’s also the perfect space for the dogs to spend their holiday with two doors leading out to different parts of the fully enclosed garden. Aviemore is one of the best locations for a Scottish Highlands holiday and adventure. The town is surrounded by secluded lochs, ancient forest and more outdoor pursuits to enjoy than you can imagine. With Aviemore at the foot of the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park there are walking, biking and ski trails galore. The walking is some of the finest in Europe thanks to the sheer size and remoteness of the national park. You can easily explore the Speyside Way and the 31 miles of trails within the Rothiemurcus Estate. In winter, Aviemore transforms into an alpine town with easy access to winter sports, including skiing at Cairngorm Mountain. But what really makes this area special is the ski touring off piste into the unique wilderness where special UK species can be spotted. The BBC’s ‘Springwatch’ and ‘Winterwatch’ have based themselves close to Aviemore in recent years. Watersports are abundant too, especially at local Loch Morlish, an excellent kayaking and sailing location. Fishing is popular across the Highlands, but nowhere more so than along the River Spey which runs through Aviemore. The Abernethy Angling Association manages the excellent Aviemore Beat and day/week tickets are available for purchase. Shop 500 yards, pub 1 mile and restaurant ½ mile. Free WiFi
