Originally the Gamekeeper's cottage for a large local estate, this delightful property sits comfortably next to the Grade II listed bridge over the River Dickler and backs onto private woodland, in the small hamlet of Upper Swell. Bridge Cottage provides an ideal rural setting for a family holiday, with Stow-on-the-Wold only a mile away with its eclectic mix of quality shopping, restaurants and pubs.
Inside the spacious cottage, a cosy sitting room complete with a warming wood burning stove and leather sofas invites you to relax and unwind. A well-equipped shaker style kitchen has everything required to prepare your holiday meals which can be enjoyed around the dining table in the light and airy dining room with french doors out to the garden. Upstairs, three comfortable bedrooms (a king, double and a twin room which can be set up as a super-king bed on request) all have their own allocated bath or shower room, ideal for groups of friends as well as families.
Outside, a large, south facing garden overlooks the shallow but fast flowing river. Whilst the garden is fenced off from the river, please be aware the parking area is not so children and dogs will need to be supervised.
The Heart of England Way runs adjacent to the cottage, and a 15 minute walk along this public footpath, through the magnificent grounds of the Abbottswood Estate, will bring you to Lower Swell where the Golden Ball Public House offers good food, an open fire and a warm welcome. From Lower Swell, you can continue along the public footpaths for a further two miles, to the charming and much photographed villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter.
