Description

Located across the courtyard from the owners' stunning home, a great deal of thought and care has been put into providing a home away from home. Entering the property from the rear courtyard you will appreciate that your complete privacy is assured. The well appointed kitchen is equipped with every modern convenience to enable you to create some memorable meals to enjoy in the adjoining dining room ( with a lovely oak table which can be extended to comfortably accommodate 10 guests), where you will begin to appreciate the history of the building. From this room, a staircase leads up to the first floor, where you will find two of the five bedrooms: a king size room with en-suite bathroom (bath with shower over), and a double room as well as a separate family bathroom (again bath with shower over). It's in this part of the building where the age of the property is most readily apparent, with its wealth of beams criss-crossing the ceiling. But be warned, the taller members of your party will be met with low doorways and sloping ceilings. Heading back downstairs to the dining room, follow the corridor along to the lounge. On this corridor you will find a family shower room adjoining the first of the ground floor twin rooms. The lounge is furnished with a series of armchairs and sofas, where you can congregate to catch up with the day's events on the flat-screen t.v., or simply kick back and relax in such a lovely setting. From the lounge you will find yet another bathroom (furnished as a wet-room, and ideal for any members of your party who may have mobility issues) which services the second of the ground floor twin rooms. From the sitting room take the second staircase up to the first floor, where you will find the fifth (and final) bedroom (with a king size bed) serviced by the fifth and final bathroom (bath with hand held shower). Externally the property enjoys a private and enclosed (though not dog proof) courtyard, furnished tables and chairs (and a charcoal bar bq) where you can enjoy a spot of al-fresco dining. There is also ample parking for up to 5 cars. If you don't fancy the idea of cooking yourselves, then walk just a hundred yards down the road to the local hostelry (with a rather quirky name); The Cat and Custard Pot Inn. Highly regarded in the area for the quality of its food. If you venture a little further afield, then the historic towns of Tetbury (with its Royal connection) and Malmesbury (in the Middle Ages one of the most significant towns in England) are just a stone's throw away. Literally at the end of the road you also have the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, and Highgrove (the country seat of Prince Charles) with its magical gardens. The cities of Bath Spa and Bristol , both of which have a multitude of historical and cultural attractions, are approximately 25 miles away and for equestrian sports enthusiasts, Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials, Cheltenham Racecourse and the Beaufort Polo Club are within easy reach. Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you also have stunning walks direct from the property. Sherwood is a fabulous location to relax with friends and family.

A small, quiet and pretty Cotswold village located in an almost hidden valley between the well known spa town of Cheltenham and the popular village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Shipton Oliffe has two interesting churches, an old manor house, a small river running through the centre and a picturesque inn on the village outskirts. A Post Office, shop and two pubs are on hand in the village of Andoversford, less than one mile away. The area is excellent for walking and cycling with many popular routes such as the Cotswold Way and the Macmillan Way nearby.
