Today, it is an excellent retreat for couples or two friends seeking a comfortable base for exploring the surrounding countryside and popular market towns. Venture into Greystoke Forest for scenic woodland strolls, or satisfy your thirst for adventure with a challenging climb up Carrock Fell from a starting point 6 miles away. Change pace and drive the 14.5 mile route to Carlisle to soak up the cosmopolitan vibe of this bustling city that boasts its own castle, museums and array of pubs, bars and bistros. Marvel at the superb architecture of the stunning cathedral, board a steam train on the Settle Carlisle Railway, or simply kick back and relax over a coffee in one of the cafes. To enter the property step past the original stone mounting block and through the characterful wooden door to find the open plan living space, where you can leave your coats in the hanging space provided. There is parking for one car on the driveway that s shared with the owners.
