Discover the many walks that start from the front door of this charming cottage in an idyllic location on the quieter side of the Lake District.
Situated in Wasdale Head overlooking the fells from almost every angle, this pretty cottage has an abundance of things to do on the doorstep. Take walks up Scafell Pike, the Great Gable, Kirk Fell or Great End, or even go climbing; the area is known for being the birthplace of British climbing so you re bound to find climbs for all abilities. Gosforth is just 9 miles away and has a pub, restaurant and shop for essentials, but if you d prefer to stay closer to home the local pub is less than a mile s walk. Head off to Muncaster Castle (13.5 miles) for an audio tour by the court jester, or climb aboard the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway (12.5 miles) for a ride through the only coastal village in the Lake District. This wonderful single storey property is attached to the main farmhouse, but privacy is assured. Hang your hats and coats and take off your boots in the small cloakroom before heading into the quaint kitchen/diner. You ll find everything you need to cook up hearty meals to prepare you for a day s walking and can sit and enjoy meals around the farmhouse style table. There isn t a washing machine or tumble dryer in the property, but they are available to use on request. Moving through to the bright and airy lounge, comfortable chairs and a sofa make for a cosy night in front of the TV and fire, and there are fantastic mountain views to enjoy in the day. The hallway leads to one double and one twin bedroom; both are decorated in calming neutral colours and have bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. The bathroom is also decorated with neutral colours and has an electric shower over the bath. Outside, a bench by the front door is the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee. There is also a garden available to use which is shared with the farmhouse that takes B&B guests. Need to know: 2 bedrooms 1 double, 1 twin. 1 bathroom with shower over the bath.
